Always Remember

Always remember that the future comes one day at a time.

(Dean Acheson, American statesman and lawyer)

You can't do everything at once, in a day, however, if you can do what you can during the day and the rest later on. When this is done, you'll feel better about yourself.

Total Security

If you want total security, go to prison. There you're fed, clothed, given medical care and so on. The only thing lacking... is freedom.

(Dwight D. Eisenhower, former General of the Army and thirty-fourth President of the U.S.)

Total security means having someone take care of you for the rest of your life. Total freedom means you with the blessings of God take care of yourself!

Good Judgement

Good judgment comes from experience, and often experience comes from bad judgment.

The only way you can acquire good judgement is by experiencing a diverse amount of situations along with the mistakes that go along with it. You cannot know what to do until you experience what not to do.

Perspective

When you've played this game for ten years and gone to bat seven-thousand times and gotten two-thousand hits do you know what that really means? It means you've gone zero for five-thousand.

(Reggie Jackson, Hall of Fame Baseball Player)

Success is always per ones perspective because for some people success is what they imagined it to be and not what it actually is in reality. Success is just like any other aspect of life, in other words "be careful what you ask for, you just might get it."

Dedicate

I should like to say that I am as proud of my Chinese heritage and background as I am devoted to modern science, a part of human civilization of Western origin, to which I have dedicated and I shall continue to dedicate my work.

(Chen Ning Yang, Chinese born-American physicist)

You must like what you are doing to be able to continue to dedicate your time and efforts towards it. If you dislike what you are doing than do something else.

Faith and Doubt

Faith and doubt both are needed - not as antagonists, but working side by side to take us around the unknown curve.

(Lillian Smith, American writer and social critic)

Individuals go through faith and doubt whenever they are out of their comfort zone. The benefit to this is the wisdom gained through those experiences in uncharted situations.

Thinking

If everyone is thinking alike, then somebody isn't thinking.

(George S. Patton, leading U.S. Army General during World War II)

There is a saying "great minds think alike" and this is relatively true. However, for the overall populace in order to achieve something great and break away from the general mindset one must begin to think differently from the rest of the crowd. In other words one must go against the flow.

Rejection

I was told to avoid the business all together because of the rejection. People would say to me, 'Don't you want to have a normal job and a normal family?' I guess that would be good advice for some people, but I wanted to act.

(Jennifer Aniston, American actress)

When a person has the desire there is no such thing as the word no. That word does not exist in the individuals vocabulary.

Equality

One of the things about equality is not just that you be treated equally to a man, but that you treat yourself equally to the way you treat a man.
(Marlo Thomas, American actress)

Equality is just good common courtesy that should be practiced every day.

Big Difference

Obviously everyone wants to be successful, but I want to be looked back on as being very innovative, very trusted and ethical and ultimately making a big difference in the world.

(Sergey Brin, co-founder of Google)

Making a difference for the betterment of society is something that everyone should aspire to.

Despise Its Adherents

Wisdom stands at the turn in the road and calls upon us publicly, but we consider it false and despise its adherents.

(Kahlil Gibran, Lebanese American artist, poet and writer)

Whenever wisdom comes around a persons first reaction is to hold it off with a stick because human nature is naturally lazy. Human nature causes people to despise wisdom due to the fact that wisdom takes actual work to acquire and they are used to things being handed to them. In order to do something that actually makes a difference, whenever wisdom calls answer, grab it and make it your own.

Construction

The road to success is always under construction.
(Lily Tomlin, American actress, comedian, writer and producer)

The same way that a wise person is constantly learning throughout his/her entire life, the success one achieves can never be fully completed. Success has to constantly be built on for it to last a lifetime and beyond.

Overmatch

Wisdom is always an overmatch for strength.

(Phil Jackson, Professional basketball coach)

Those individuals with wisdom are the ones who best utilize the strengths of others. Strength is only a temporary thing which fades with time, while wisdom is something which is kept forever and this is why wisdom is always an overmatch for strength.

Imagination

Imagination will often carry us to worlds that never were. But without it we go nowhere.

Ingenuity

Never tell people how to do things. Tell them what to do and they will surprise you with their ingenuity.

(George S. Patton, former U.S. Army General)

There is always more than one way to perform a task. By not having preconceived notions, the imagination can do wondrous things.
