I have warned several family members and friends to, “Do not go out hastily to strive, lest you know not what to do in the end thereof.” Most arguments are started impulsively; few are carefully thought out beforehand. Dealing with Adversity Part II

Jonathan Keese continues his discussing on the subject of Dealing with Adversity in Part II of his conversation.

Lesson 3: Closely examine the adversity you encounter to learn from it. My neighbor's daughter was vacation in Thailand on December 26, 2004 with the tsunami hit. Although he will never know the purpose of that event, he did gain an infinitely grater realization of the temporary nature of like. As a result, he made the decision to make the absolute most of every remaining day of his life. Because of the love and kindness he was show by Thai villagers who had also lost family members, he is more actively helping the helpless himself. When Hurricane Katrina ravaged the Gulf Coast, He instantly and effectively campaigned for help from our community.

Lesson 4: Seek insights from other people. A lot of times, adversity blindsides us. So what do you do? This is exactly the kind of situation in which Solomon would advise us to seek outside counsel. Go to others and gather their insights. What went wrong? Why didn't I see it coming? Was I blind? Was I callous? Was I naive? Others can sometimes see what we cannot because of our closeness to the situation.

Jonathan Keese, gives us a number of insights that we can used when we find ourselves in adverse circumstances, regardless of their source or its degree of difficulty:

Lesson One: Realize that adversity is a valuable part of life. Adversity provides us with the opportunity to develop our character in natural, recurring, and powerful way that only the challenges of adversity offer. Only adversity refines and reveals the gold and silver of our character. Nobody likes going through adversity at the time we are going through it. Without going through it, our character "muscles" would never reach their full potential strength and power.

Lesson Two: Accept responsibility for your contribution to the situation. A lot of times adversity comes our way as a direct or indirect result of our own actions. We make a bad choice or a bad decision, or we simply fail to do something we should have done. When I made bad investment decisions, I had to accept responsibility from my greed and my naive choices. Yes, several men had misrepresented the opportunities to me, but the fact is, I am the one who made the decisions. And I experienced the very consequences that Sol had cautioned me about. Anytime you make a contribution to your own adversity, you need to accept responsibility for it. Don't simply blame someone or something else.

Nonetheless, throughout our lives here on earth we will experience a great deal of adversity that is not a result of our actions. In those cases, it is critically important that we do not assign fault to ourselves or those who had nothing to do with it. Always remember that adversity sometimes has a purpose that we cannot know or understand. As tempting as it may be, to try to figure out such a mystery is not only an exercise in futility, it is foolish.

THE REGRETS OF A CHAMPION

I once heard Irving Berlin say, "the toughest thing about success is that you've got to keep on being a success". Let me put it straight, a champion also exhibits some fear, it is just that he has control over his fear. Ernest Hemingway says, "courage is grace under pressure", and Woody Allen says, "its not that I'm afraid to die, I just don't want to be there when it happens". A champion truly has his weakness but he never lets his weakness have him. I will discuss more in detail four out of the many regrets of a champion later this week have a blessed Sunday.

EXPOSED TO DANGER

Danger is always locking around the corridors of great and famous people. Usually, it is a type of danger in disguised. It glitters but it can litter the life of champion. If you are not careful you may being to live the life of a hypocrite, someone says, "a hypocrite is one who is not himself on Sunday." You are not really yourself because you want to avoid being labelled with a bad name your life is dictated by the forces around you.

As a champion you must be careful with things which did not get you up there but can bring you down. The things which took you to the place of achievement are the things which can sustain you there. Beware. The danger of peers in one. The danger of peers is one. Everybody loves to be a friend to a champion, but know that a champion cannot be everybody's friend. You must be friendly, be accessible and acceptable but do not be influenced anyhow and easily.

The danger of family pressure is number two. You must care for your family but do not lose concentration because of their demands. They can get on your nerves and their schedules may conflict with yours, but be organised and principled. The danger of the media is number three. They can help get your informations to the world but they would not let you them what to do, write or say. They have to make their own money too.

The danger of pleasure is number four. As much as possible you must enjoy the wealth you possess and the position you occupy, but do not let them take over your self-esteem or ego. They are to boost your ego and not control it. You must distinguish between pleasure and work. While work gives, pleasure takes.

These are two words that you get the meaning of one as you understand the definition for the other. A supporter will call the champion, "My Man", and the champion calls the supporter "My Fan."

The opposer may not necessary dislike the man in the rival camp but as it is impossible to serve two masters, you have to be committed to one camp. On the other hand, if an opposer does not show extreme opposition towards the opponent he cannot be trusted by his man. This is the beginning of rivalry.

There are various reasons for taking sides. Let me mildly put it to you by saying there are reasons for difference in opinions. Though the real essence is that no one wants his man to lose, so this can change the mild statement into something like, reasons for being against or antagonistic.

This strong support for one makes people make a bet on games or contests. They stake their possessions for the one they believe in. Some of these reason are:

1. They see what others do not see, which I think is a result of their view point

2. They get their fame from your fame

3. They get excitement from your championship

4. They make personal monetary/material/spiritual gains from what you take part in,

5.They learn from your skillful victories and achievements.

The irony of the support is that there are rights and wrongs in either camp. But when they are wrong it may be because of you and when they are right it is definitely because of you.

BORN AND STRUGGLED AS A LOSER BUT DIED A CHAMPION

There is a common saying, "No condition is permanent", which I find to be absolute truth. We have seen great people fall and lowly people rise. The struggle of life is inevitable but it is convertible.

Rev. R. W. Shambach stated on the radio this afternoon that caught my attention, "you may be knocked down but you are not knocked out." We nave seen in boxing tournaments, person who were knocked down on few occasions and at the count of three or four and even nine, they got up to continue the fight. Eventually, they turned out as winners. The way you are rated counts a lot. Your end must be better than your beginning. Someone once said, "you may be losing the battle but you will win the war."

I would mention a few people in life who began woefully but ended praisefully. As someone puts it, "I have come into this world too silently, but I will leave with a loud noise." This is true of many renowned people. It was at their departure that they received the loudest ovation of the lives. There were either political, civil or religious figures.

Ayo-Born to idol worshippers, his early life was turbulent that he fled from school to start farming. Later returning to school, he passed a few examinations but failed the others which made him leave school for apprenticeship appointment. He tried blacksmithing and graduated without work tools which made him seek job as a caterpillar driver. He later was called to preaching he became one of the leading fathers of Pentecostalism and faith in Nigeria. He died as a father of nations.

Abraham Lincoln- Born in a cabin. Lost his mother an early age. Had little formal education. Fought in wars. Lost his wife. Had unsuccessful ventures. Defeated in state legislature race. Remarried and only one out of four children reached adulthood. Disappointed in a quest for Federal office, and also lost bid for U.S.Senate. He later won Presidential election but fought wars to survive. Many Army Generals disappointed him. Threatened all around, yet he was re-elected as President. He steered the Union to victory in the American Civil War and Abolished Slavery. The sixteenth American President was Assassinated.

Rubin "Hurricane" Cater- A man who, in the prime of his boxing career finds himself wrongfully convicted of murder. sentenced to life in prison Cater's published memoir, the Sixteenth round, inspired a teenager (Vicellous Rean Shannon) from Brooklyn and three Canadian activists (Deborah Kara Unger, John Hannah, Liev Schreiber) who believed in the truth, to join forces with Cater to prove his innocence. Their extraordinary efforts ultimately secure his release, leaving "Hurricane" to sum up his 20 years in prison for a crime he didn't commit by simply stating, "Hate got me into this place, love got me out."

What more shall I say of Nelson Mandela, Martin Luther King, Jr., Bishop Benson Idahosa and lots more. These people and many others made history adorable. You must not suffer in vain. You must attain championship and make posterity admirable.

OBTAINING AND MAINTAINING

I was listening to the radio today and there was a guest speaker on talk radio, I believe he was from Atlanta Georgia, and the guest speaker used this statement, "it is easier to obtain than to maintain".

These words penetrated my inner self, because I knew that most of us do not still have all we got along our life journey. Things (personal possesions) do not last long in our hands. We do not even stay long enough in positions. Most of us are perambulators, we are into rigmaroling or better put as ragman rolling. We are not set for a course.

Ask yourself, for how long you kept letters from peers, gifts from buddies, notes from school, books from school grades/levels, sermons heard from pulpits and so on. You must not wear out before what you hold withers. THis is what makes a champion remain a champion. He has to hold on to the title to remain an undisputed champion. Someone may say, "I could not help it. "THis is rubbish! Things that leave you sprawling are the same that make others stand." Nobody would blame you for a situation you could not handle, they only blame you for situations you failed to handle. You let it happen by failing to follow instructions or laid down principals.

Principals makes you a principal. If you move without instruction you head for destruction. You can only maintian what you obtain by observing rules and putting them into play. If you go free-lance and out of range, you will get missed.

The longer you stay up there, the more respect you earn. It is better to rise and fall a hundred times before you attain the top than to get up there and fall once. THe higher you go the fatal the fall would be, so hold on. Just "keep on keeping on." Retirement is honourable, resignation is acceptable, but falling is terrible trust me. There is no time for Jack and Jill because once you fall everyone sees you rolling down the hill and they will never try to let you forget it.

As I shared with a longtime friend today, "I do not need your permission to change!" The last time we saw each other you still viewed me in that light. I guess, the problem is not me but you because you haven't even changed your mindset.

You don't need anybodys permission to change! When you change most people don't and sometimes they will pass that feeling onto you. Don't fall for it you are not the same.

THE CHALLENGER

Let me mention the conclusion before the discussion we are having gets to deep; the challenger has nothing of his own except what he wants to take from the champion.

This is the one who confronts the champion even when everyone honours and accepts the champion. He does not believe what is said about the Champion until he has experienced it for himself. The challenger deep down inside wants all the glory like the champion without the needed skills to maintain the championship belt.

The Challenger protests and equally criticises. He questions every move whether good or bad because he wants recognition however is standing still and not willing to train. All these efforts are to get what is in the hands of the champion. But one thing is certain, the threats of the challenger keeps the champion in shape and in readiness for the contest. He is stimulated to defend his championship and to prove his superiority yet the champion remains quiet training calmly through rain and sunshine. The challenger(s) hoping that they can get under the skin of the champion to cause him or her to loose their focus. All the while the Challenger is unaware of the true strength of the champion and his ability to continue training harder to maintain his position at the top.

A true champion is never afraid of challenges, because he does not dread failure. It was through the passage of failure that he got to the throne of his or her position. The champion and the challenger will always meet at one point however the question that the Challenger will have to internalize is, "DID I MAKE A MISTAKE TRYING TO FIGHT THE CHAMPION AT THIS POINT IN MY LIFE; AM I TRULY MENTALLY AND PHYSICALLY READY TO FACE THE FACT THAT I COULD HAVE BEEN WRONG BY CHALLENGING THE CHAMP BEFORE I WAS TRULY FIT TO HOLD HIS POSITION!"

Every Challenger will face the fact that once the champion is in the ring and the bell rings he must fight the champion ALONE! A word to the wise for a challenger, "Never fight the CHAMP with weak corner men" because the champ is bringing the best corner men alive with him to the ring."

THE CHAMPION AND THE CHALLENGER

THE CREATION OF A CHAMP

I do not think all who became recognized champions just started as champions. They "BECAME" champions. They rose to the place of championship, this is what you must not take away from whatever you define in your mind.The champion today was the amateur of yesterday. He once lacked experience and competence. He pursued without proficiency. One who showed talents but was a mere tyro. A blunderer who struggled hard without professionalism. The champion today was the trainee yesterday. He took pains to arrive where he is today. He learnt bearable and unbearable lessons from the lovable and unlovable.

The champion today was a servant yesterday. he served a champion or superior to know that path to superiority. In boxing, he could be the sparring partner to a champion. He is used to correcting the mistakes of the reigning champ. All the skills of the reigning one are tested on him. This is why I personally do not run from assignments, because every tested blow on me makes me skillful and knowledgeable on how to deal with a situation in live.The champion today was at one time left to fend for himself. He once had no one to depend upon. He struggled all alone. But today he fights for the rights and interests of others who need help. The champion is the one who came from the back position to take the first prize.

Creating A Champion

I say that champions are made. You do not inherit championship because it come with contest, and there are may contenders. Your father may pass his properties over to you but not championship. You can ask your father for money and he will issue a cheque, but if you ask him for championship, he will mold you. He will make it out of you. The undermentioned can help you become a champion.

DESIRE - This is to long for something. You must have a strong intention for the top before you get there. I even think there is some action desire, which make it stronger than a 'wish.'

WILL - This is the expression of determination and insistence. It is the positive aspect of your mind. It is your choice due to capability

COMMITMENT- This is a deliberate action. When you believe in something and you crave for it, you have to put in efforts riding on the wings of purpose. It may be the last thing you have that will be committed.

MOTIVATION- This is the force or stimulant within you. You may not feel excitement but you can imagine it the during the testing period. Know that reason for every step you take in life, then it will be difficult for anything to drive you backwards.

DISCIPLINE- This is self-control. You must live with rules or system of rules that will govern your conduct. This will make you abstain from pleasures that may cost you your championship even if you get it.

TRAINING- This is the formation process. It takes you through drilling that makes you capable of handling issues leading to success. Many people avoid this, yet they desire success. This is the stage of building the mind, spirit and body against all odds.

FITNESS- This is the state of being could physically and mentally. You must be put in a suitable state to suffer anything and yet survive. Wimps can be CHAMPIONS but champions are no WIMPS!

FEAR- This is part which may not necessarily be visible. A champion breaths heavily not because of exhaustion or exertion of energy but because of the desire to retain his valuable position. A champion may not fear to die but he fears to lose. It is this aspect that makes him work harder.

FEARSOMENESS- This is the state that keeps opponents afar off. A champion must cause panic and fear in the minds of opponents. The way you talk on one opponent must scare others on the queue.

Leaping into the realm of Championship terrifies some people. But you must know that you still live in fear even if you do not step up for exploits in life. It is better to step up in fear than to sit down in worries. I do not see anything work with trying your hands on the good thoughts passing through your mind. There is no sin in trying. Someone once said, "it is risky not taking risks." Winston Churchill says, "the price of greatness is responsibility."

My Will Fall

Have you ever suffered a fall? Nobody ever plans to fall it just happens. I recently stepped on some unforeseen ice and my feet flew out from beneath me. As I was falling, I remembered the terrible feeling of panic, of being totally out of control. I remember hoping that some cushioned part of my body would hit the ground first, before my head. But I had no chance of controlling how I landed. Fortunately, my hands hit the ground first, breaking my fall. My head hit next. Both of my wrists were sore, and I had a golf-ball-sized lump on my head, but that wasn't it. When I went to the hospital the emergency room nurse told me that a famous person fell just like I did and did not survive.

Dr. Robert Atkins, famed creator of the Atkins Diet, wasn't so fortunate. As he walked down the steps of his home. I'm sure he had not idea that he was one step away from the last step of his life. He never saw the ice that caused his fall. Upon landing , his head bore the full impact. Despite the valiant efforts of some of New York's finest doctors, he never regained consciousness, and he died a few days later.

The terrifying aspects of a fall are:You never see it coming, you lose all control, and you suffer injury to one degree or another. The same is true here in my business carrier. I will never ever forget what my mentors told me back in 2005. "Do not do it because you will fail," Jonathan you can not force people to recondition there minds, they must want to on there own. Micah Sr., would also say, it's not a matter of if, but when. My when started, March of 2007; two of my partners got into what you would consider to be a innocent agreement which resulted in a state investigation.

Four times in my life I have had investment opportunities that seemed like "Can't Miss moneymaker." (Latchkey Kids, Zazoo Clothing Store, Restaurant and EPMH) I was so confident that they were "sure things" that I refused to listen to my internal Holy Spirit advise and especially my mentors advise. Each of these four times, I lost every penny I had in savings trying to keep them running on my own shoulders. I did reach out to my partners however it went unheard. Each time, I was humiliated in front of my family and friends with this question, "Why are you carrying people who don't help and just complain about money?" Fortunately, my relationship with my mentors was such a productive one and so undeservedly blessed that I was always able to recover and gain back over time each partners money that looked at first like a lost.

A friend of mine who I invested in his restaurant business wasn't so fortunate. Even though we were partners, I recently found out that he tried to kill himself after he was told that I was very angry with him for partnering up with a gentleman who I knew was not qualified to be part of this investment. We had a clear plan and all he had to do was follow it; ultimately he did not and it affected every who had invested with me. He lost everything he owned. Worse, he almost lost his life! I spoke to his wife and found out today, that they are leaving the state and they ask me to speak to all the investors because he is so ashamed. Both he and I could have avoided our financial losses and humiliation had we only humbled ourselves and heeded the plans of our mentors.

Nobody sails through life without experiencing trials and unexpected falls. Sooner or later, they come to all of us. Micah, Sr., statements over the past months is very obvious to me and yet I seem to miss it back in 2005 when I started the creation of these legal entities. With a good partner there will always be someone to come to your aid and pick you up. Without a good partner, what would have been a temporary setback can become a permanent failure. (Second time I slipped on the ice and was injury due to having the wrong partners.) Fortunately for me, as this was happening, my old mentors can to my aid to allow me to see clearly and teach me how to take all the proper steps to not only return money to all the investors but to close down the very companies that were cause me pain.

Without even being asked, he volunteered to help me solve my overwhelming situation that I could not see night from day. He then miraculously negotiated a temporarily fix to solve my anger partners issues and even explain to me that I should not explain anything just return money and walk away. As I input this new plan starting next weekend, I am filled with joy that I will have an opportunity to solve all my investor issues without borrowing and partner with anyone. When You Can Go 65?

Shortly after I received my driver's license, I was driving my sister's car on a freeway in New York. A car in front of me was moving too slowly for my comfort, so I switched lanes to pass and hit the gas pedal as hard as I could to get around the other car. As a new driver, I loved the exhilaration of putting the pedal to the metal and feeling the car instantly respond with quick acceleration. Only this time, something was dreadfully wrong. As I tromped on the pedal, nothing happened. I didn't even hear the engine rev up. I kept stomping on the pedal as hard as I could, but nothing happened! Worse, the car was slowing down. I glanced at the fuel gauge and to my horror saw that the needle was pointed to the E. If you have ever fun out of gas, you know the feeling. But the feeling that stuck with me most clearly was the feeling of helplessness I experienced when I pressed repeatedly on the accelerator to no response.

Now imagine if a car didn't have an accelerator. Event the world's fastest and most expensive sports car would be worthless. Not matter how powerful its fuel and engine, without an hope accelerator, your engine would only idle.
